Keeping safe while online shopping this holiday season

As we begin to look towards a busy December holiday season, Prince George RCMP wants to make sure consumers are informed about common scams and frauds most commonly associated with online shopping.

The excitement of finding the perfect gift for a friend or loved one can sometimes cloud our judgement, especially if it’s at a great price. However, not every online shopping venue has consumers’ best interests in mind. To help people navigate which online stores are secure and which ones are not, Prince George RCMP has some tips shoppers can use to help decide where to spend their money, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The Get Cyber Safe and Canadian-Anti Fraud websites offers Canadians important information and tools to stay cyber safe in all aspects of their lives. Visit the Get Cyber Safe holiday resources and Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre’s holiday scams and fraud pages to learn more about protecting yourself during the holiday season.
