Police vehicle rammed, two suspects arrested over weekend

Prince George RCMP arrested two violent offenders on Saturday morning after they rammed multiple police vehicles.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on October 22, 2022, Prince George RCMP Frontline Police Officers located a vehicle driving near the 7600-block of Gladstone Drive. The vehicle is associated to a known offender, who has ties to the illicit drug trade. Police officers attempted a traffic stop with the vehicle as the license plate was expired, however, the vehicle did not stop. The vehicle was located a second time on Simon Fraser Avenue and fled from police once again, striking a police car as it fled the area.

Police officers subsequently attempted to stop the vehicle due to the dangerous driving behaviour observed. They located the vehicle a third time in a cul-de-sac on the 8000-block of St John Place and attempted to arrest the driver, who then rammed an unoccupied police vehicle hard enough to set off the airbags, nearly pushing the vehicle into a nearby police officer with the force of the impact. The suspect vehicle then left the area, striking an additional police car as it drove away, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Police successfully deployed a spike belt on Domano Boulevard and the suspect vehicle came to a stop on Moriarty Drive. Police arrested the driver and single passenger without further incident, identifying them as Brent Morgan and Angeline Hammerstrom, both of whom are known to police.

The B.C. Prosecution Service approved the following charges in this matter:

Brent Morgan:

• Aggravated assault of a police officer
• Flight while pursued by a police officer
• Dangerous operation of a conveyance
• Fail to stop at the scene of an accident

Angeline Hammerstrom:

• Fail to comply with release order

Brent Morgan will remain in custody until his next court appearance; Angeline Hammerstrom was released back into the community on a release order.

None of the police officers involved in this investigation were seriously injured, though damages to the police vehicles involved was substantial. The suspects were given appropriate medical attention before being released back to police custody.

The file remains under investigation.
