File # 2022-25195

Prince George RCMP is advising the public to be cautious when making certain online purchases, after a set of loaded tractor trailers were stolen from a local business this weekend.

On Sunday, July 17, 2022, just after 10:00 a.m., Frontline police officers attended an area off of West Beaverly Road where a witness reported seeing an abandoned tractor trailer with the cargo doors open. Investigators attended and determined the cargo belonged to a local department store.

Some of the stolen items include CCM and Raleigh bikes, as well as BBQs, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. We are cautioning those using online market places this summer to be wary of buying these types of items if the deal seems ‘too good to be true’. It’s possible these are some of the stolen items from this investigation. Anyone found to be in possession of the stolen items risks having the item recovered by police and could possibly face charges of Possession of Stolen Property.

Police ask that anyone concerned they may have found some of the stolen items take a screenshot of the merchandise and report the incident to Prince George RCMP by calling the non-emergency number at 250-561-3300.

The total value of stolen merchandise has yet to be determined. The investigation remains ongoing.

If you have any information about this or any other criminal offence, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477 or online at www.northernbccrimestoppers.ca (English only). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers. If you provide information that leads to an arrest or recovery of stolen property, you could be eligible for a cash reward.

Consider registering your home or business surveillance system with the City of Prince George’s CCTV registry. For more information, visit the City of Prince George website at www.princegeorge.ca/cctv (English only).
