File # 2022-20479

This morning, shortly before 7:00 a.m., Prince George RCMP attended a residence on the 200-block of Voyageur Drive to assist with a man there who was exhibiting erratic behaviour. When Frontline police officers arrived at the house, the man was on the roof of the home with a rifle.

Police requested the assistance of a Crisis Negotiator, the Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services and Prince George Fire Rescue Services to assist with this situation. The man came safely down off the roof after a short time, and police apprehended him under the Mental Health Act. He is currently in hospital being assessed.

This file came to a swift conclusion due to the coordinated efforts of many different units, who used their Critical Incident training to de-escalate a dynamic situation, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations officer for the Prince George RCMP.

There will be no further updates.

Prince George RCMP are out on the 200-block of Voyageur Drive with the Emergency Response Team, in relation to a complaint from a house in that area.

We do ask that people avoid traveling through the neighbourhood and give police and other first responders space to safely do their work, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Updates may be provided at a later date.
