At 9:40 a.m. on February 2, 2021, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a robbery at the Shoppers Drug Mart at 3055 Massey Drive.

Within ten minutes of police receiving the report, frontline members had the male suspect in custody. Two minutes later police arrested the female suspect, as well. Prince George RCMP’s Police Dog Service team attended to assist in backtracking where the male suspect traveled and quickly located the discarded hatchet used in the robbery, states Cst. Jennifer Cooper, media spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.

Police transported the male to the Prince George RCMP detachment where he remained until Court on Wednesday. Police are recommending charges of robbery and resisting arrest to the B.C. Prosecution Service. The suspect was also breaching two of his court ordered conditions. Police released the female without charges.

This file remains under investigation.
