File # 2021-35057
Richmond RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver involved in a pedestrian hit and run on Christmas Eve.
At approximately 4:25 pm on December 24, 2021 Richmond RCMP front-line officers attended the intersection of Cook Rd and Buswell St for a collision involving a pedestrian.
The pedestrian was crossing in a marked crosswalk, with the signal, when according to a witness a vehicle suddenly turned Eastbound onto Cook Rd from Buswell St and allegedly struck her.
According to another witness, the vehicle initially stopped following the collision but then allegedly sped off Eastbound on Cook Rd towards Garden City Rd.
The suspect vehicle is described as a gray hatchback believed to be a 2012 to 2015 Toyota Camry. Unfortunately, while a number of witnesses remained on scene, and dash cam footage provided, the licence plate of the vehicle involved is unknown.
We want to thank all of the individuals who remained on scene and assisted the elderly pedestrian. We recognize there may be other witnesses out there or someone with dash cam footage of the collision. If you have information please contact police,
says Corporal Adriana O’Malley, Media Relations Officer for Richmond RCMP. As a driver in BC you are required to stop if you are involved in a collision. We are appealing to the driver to do the right thing and contact police.
Anyone who may have witnessed, or have information regarding this file, is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2021-35057. Should you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crimestoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit them online at www.solvecrime.ca.
