File # 2021-24458 and 2018-26161
On September 9th, 2021, investigators with Richmond RCMP’s Property Crime Unit executed a search warrant in the 8900 block of Cooper Road, as part of an ongoing break-and-enter investigation.
During the search of the residence, investigators recovered a long service medal belonging to a Burnaby Fire Fighter. Investigators were eventually able to able to track down the son of the long-retired firefighter, who advised that the medal belonged to his father. Apparently, it had been stolen from the son’s Richmond residence during a break-and-enter in 2018.
The family of the rightful owner is very happy to have the medal returned to them,
says Corporal Ian Henderson of the Richmond RCMP. The rightful owner’s name was engraved on the medal and this certainly helped investigators connect the dots, so to speak,
says Henderson.
Because the search warrant at the heart of this story is part of an on-going investigation, Richmond RCMP is not releasing any more details on the investigation or possible charges at this time.
