Richmond RCMP and Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team take armed and barricaded male into custody without incident.

At approximately 12:08 pm on June 22, 2021 Richmond RCMP attended the 22000 block of Norton Court after a male allegedly pointed a firearm at bailiffs.

The bailiffs were at the residence to enforce a Supreme Court order regarding the removal of the male. When the bailiffs entered the property, the male allegedly pointed a firearm at them. The bailiffs immediately exited the property and contacted police.

While outside the bailiffs allege the male exited the residence onto a second story balcony and discharged his firearm multiple times into the air.

Richmond RCMP frontline officers quickly set-up containment on the residence and the area was secured for public safety.

Frontline officers were in contact with the male, however, he refused to exit the residence.

The Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team and RCMP negotiator were engaged and attended the scene.

The male ultimately exited the residence and was safely taken into custody at approximately 3:45 pm without incident.

No members of the public or police were injured during this incident.

Richmond RCMP frontline have conduct over this investigation. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
