On March 25th, Richmond RCMP frontline investigators presented a young cyclist with a new bicycle, after his was destroyed by a hit-and-run driver on March 7th.

While on the scene of the collision, the investigators learned that Sabit, 12, had purchased his bicycle the day before with money he had been saving for some time.

As a result, the investigators reached out to their partners at ‘Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives’ for assistance. We are very fortunate to have such a strong relationship with Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, said Corporal Ian Henderson of the Richmond RCMP. We can’t thank them enough for making this kind donation possible, said Henderson.

President and CEO of ‘Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives,’ Ed Gavsie, responded by saying, We are so pleased to be able to support our community partners at Richmond RCMP in bringing joy to this otherwise unfortunate incident.

Police are still looking for the driver of the white Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) involved in the incident, which occurred at approximately 1230 pm on March 7th, at the intersection of Westminster Hwy and Cooney Road.
