Three men charged after multi-jurisdictional operation leads to significant drug seizure

Three men have been charged with drug-related offences after a Federal Policing Pacific Region investigation culminated in search warrants and a significant seizure of illicit drugs and cash.

On July 26, 2023, RCMP Federal Policing investigators, with assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), Coquitlam RCMP, Burnaby RCMP, Osoyoos RCMP, and other specialized support units, simultaneously executed seven search warrants in three policing jurisdictions across the Lower Mainland and one in the Southeast District. The search warrants resulted in approximately 12 kilograms of cocaine, half a kilogram crack cocaine, along with smaller quantities of fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, $50,000 cash, and ammunition.

On November 27, 2024 charges were approved for four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking against Luis Sandoval, Wesley Huston, and Matthew Huston. All three men are next scheduled for court on January 15, 2025.

This complex, multi-jurisdictional investigation highlights the collaborative nature of modern policing, as well as the resourcing capacity of the RCMP, said Superintendent Tim Arseneault, Officer in Charge of Federal Policing Pacific Region Drugs and Organized Crime. This operation saw 60 police officers from across municipal, provincial and federal business lines come together to execute an intricate plan to ensure the preservation of evidence while maintaining public and officer safety.
