File # 2024-32728

A police presence that began in Knutsford early this morning has concluded with the safe arrest of a suspect.

On Tuesday Oct. 1, 2024, around 7 a.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP frontline officers were called to an address on the 3000-block of Rose Hill Road for a report of an assault in progress. On scene, officers confirmed the victim had left the residence and was safe, but that the suspect may have access to weapons, including firearms.

Due to the perceived risk presented by the possible presence of weapons, the assistance of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team was requested to help keep the situation as safe as possible, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.

After a number of hours on scene, a suspect surrendered in the early afternoon and was safely taken into custody. The police presence is expected to clear shortly.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information that may be related is asked to please contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2024-32728.
