The 32-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of stolen property. A subsequent search resulted in the police locating and seizing the following additional items:

"By accurately reporting the description and serial number of the e-bike, CRT was able to confirm the bike was stolen and make the arrest, as well as seize weapons, suspected drugs, and money, said Corporal Brad Rendall of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment. As a result of this proactive investigation, not only was the stolen e-bike recovered but the suspect faces additional charges.

Alexander Schmautz is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possess Break-In Instruments, and Possessing a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He is scheduled to appear in Chilliwack Provincial Court on November 14, 2023.
