RCMP investigate mischief to local rainbow art

On October 30, 2023, at 8:28 a.m., the Kelowna RCMP became aware that the rainbow art located on a sidewalk at the 1000 Block of Hollywood Road S was vandalized over the previous weekend. The complainant reported that the sidewalk was vandalized with hate speech.
Surveillance footage revealed that the vandalism occurred on October 28 at 6:55 p.m. It captured a suspect who appeared to be male, wearing dark clothing, a mask, and gloves.
"Kelowna has a long history of diversity and inclusion of all our citizens, this behavior is disappointing and completely unacceptable. " stated Inspector Beth McAndie Investigative Service Officer with the Kelowna RCMP. We will continue to investigate all reports of hate speech and crimes of this nature in an effort to identify those responsible.
