Happy Tails to you… West is retiring!

After seven years with the Cranbrook RCMP, West is turning in his emotional support vest for a life of luxury.
West, a Labrador Retriever, has worked with the Cranbrook and Kimberley RCMP for the past seven years. His role was to support individuals who have experienced any form of trauma in their lives whether it be victims in the community, police or staff in our office. He was also a regular at the Cranbrook courthouse in support of people testifying.
Without the support of the community, the local RCMP, Summit Community Services and those who work in the Cranbrook courthouse, West would not have had the opportunity to support as many people as he did in his time with us
, says Cst Katie Forgeron. West would also like to send out a special thank you to his full-time mom, Jesse (with the RCMP) and his part time mom, Katie (with Summit Community Services). Their time and dedication to both West and their victim-based programs helped many people over the years.
When asked, Jesse says she wanted to pass on her thanks to West. She says, To my best friend and partner: thank you for your service. You have touched so many lives in such a positive way-you will never know the impact you made
.
West will spend his retirement hiking, napping, and living his best life at the lake.
Enjoy retirement West! You’ve earned it!
