Reckless driver has vehicle impounded and fines

On June 17, 2023, BC Highway Patrol Vanderhoof were conducting a joint enforcement project with BCHP Prince George on Highway 97 North of Prince George when the officer observed a vehicle travelling Southbound at a high rate of speed.

With the use of his radar, the officer confirmed the vehicle to be travelling at a speed of 187km/hr in the posted 90km/hr zone, Over twice the posted speed limit stated Cpl Serge Bruneau.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 19 year old Prince George resident with a Novice driver’s license was issued a $483.00 violation ticket for excessive speed and $109.00 violation ticket for failing to display their N sign. The vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days.

BC Highway Patrol Prince George would like to remind the motoring public to slow down and follow the rules of the road. The actions of this driver were reckless and dangerous and could have resulted in a fatality.
