Charges laid in Coquitlam Little League fraud investigation

A 65-year-old female has been charged in a fraud investigation resulting in over $150,000 lost in funds.
In August 2020, Coquitlam RCMP received a fraud report from the Coquitlam Little League after it was discovered that over $150,000 was missing from the league’s bank account.
The file was assumed by the Coquitlam RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS).
Investigators identified, Terri Michael of Coquitlam, as the suspect who had worked as the league’s treasurer from September 2014 to August 2020.
Our investigators worked diligently throughout this two- and half-year investigation to gather evidence, identify and interview witnesses and support charges,
said Sergeant Karrie Ellis from Coquitlam RCMP’s GIS.
On Wednesday, May 10, 2023 Terri Michael was charged with:
- One count - Fraud over $5,000
- One count - Theft over $5,000
Terri Michael has since been released pending her next court appearance.
