Every holiday season, West Shore RCMP officers and Municipal staff engage in initiatives to support our community members. This year, one of those initiatives was the Reverse-Advent Calendar.

The initiative is exactly how it sounds, the reverse of a traditional Advent Calendar. Instead of taking something out of the Advent Calendar, we chose to put something in. The non-perishable food items in these hampers are items we asked our staff to add in daily. These are common food items most families would find themselves purchasing during their holiday grocery shop.

Different units within the West Shore RCMP formed teams and took on filling up the hampers with all the essential pantry items. We will be delivering these hampers over the next week.

The holiday season is typically a time of joy, but for many struggling with food security it can be a time of stress. The hampers will go to families in need that would benefit from this initiative by taking some of the pressure off their shoulders. We are very thankful to our officers and staff who purchased all the food items for the hampers, said Cst. Cole Brewer, who organized this event and is a member of the West Shore RCMP Indigenous Policing Unit.

Video begins with a photo of West Shore RCMP officers and Municipal staff wearing Santa hats standing in front of 2 police cars and 9 holiday hampers filled with food in front of them. The caption on the photos says: Happy Holidays from the West Shore RCMP.

Video then pans to showing two officers waving from inside their police cars wearing Santa hats and showcasing all the hampers.

Video pans to another angle showcasing the hampers close up and the video caption at the bottom reads: West Shore Officers and Municipal staff filled up and delivered these holiday hampers to West Shore Families.

A photo of the West Shore RCMP logo is seen. The photo is on a blue background and depicts the logo wearing a Santa hat and a string on Christmas lights underneath it.
