File # 2022-41458

Chilliwack Mounties execute a search warrant and recover stolen items listed for sale on Marketplace.

The investigation began when a member of the public alerted police that property stolen from his residence a month prior had surfaced on an online sales forum. Investigation confirmed ownership and the location of the goods. On October 28, 2022, two males in their forties were arrested leaving a residence with stolen property and drugs. Chilliwack RCMP subsequently executed a search warrant in the 10000 block of Fairbanks Crescent where they recovered further stolen goods, controlled substances and a loaded firearm.

This file showcases the great work being done by our front-line members and our specialized investigative support sections. Our various police units worked seamlessly to advance this investigation leading to the recovery of thousands of dollars of stolen property, drugs and a firearm said Cpl. Martin Godard, spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP.

The males were identified and released. The investigation remains active.

This case serves as a strong reminder for people to mark items of value with a unique identifier and to keep a list of the serial numbers, said Cpl. Godard. For tips on keeping your home secured, please visit BC RCMP - Home Security Tips.
