Following a 2-year investigation, a Salmon Arm man has been arrested and charged with child pornography offences involving multiple reports of online child sexual exploitation received by the BC Integrated Child Exploitation Unit (BC ICE).
In May of 2019, BC ICE received information and identified a possible suspect in Salmon Arm, BC. BC ICE in partnership with Salmon Arm RCMP immediately launched an investigation, which due to the complexity of the case involving the multiple reports and analysis of digital evidence, culminated in June 2021. The results of that investigation were submitted to BC Prosecution Service for consideration of appropriate charges.
On June 17, 2021, 23-year-old Brecken Peters of Salmon Arm, BC was officially charged with, one count of possessing child pornography, and two counts of distributing child pornography. He was arrested without incident on June 25, 2021, and has since been released from custody with conditions. He is expected to appear in Salmon Arm Provincial court on September 14, 2021.
