File # 2021-4911

The Terrace RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating after a Terrace man was found in a flooded basement yesterday afternoon.

Just after noon on June 3, frontline Terrace RCMP officers were called to a residence in the 6700-block of Kilby Road to check the well being of a man who had failed to return home the previous evening. When officers arrived they discovered the 73-year-old man in several feet of water, in the basement that had flooded.

The BC Coroners Service has attended and is conducting it’s own fact finding investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

While the BC Coroners Service is continuing to investigate, initial investigation does lead police to believe that criminality was not involved in this man’s death, states S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the BC RCMP.

The man’s identity will not be released and no further information is available
