University RCMP looking for witnesses of an unprovoked Assault

University RCMP are investigating the alleged unprovoked assault on an Asian women. Police are asking anyone with information or anyone who was a witness to come forward.

On March 27, 2021 at around 8:10 p.m., a women was taking out the garbage in the alley located behind the 5700 block of University Blvd when an unknown man approached her. He used a racial term and then punched her in the head and stomach before running in an unknown direction. The victim then hid and called 911. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and since been released.

The suspect in this file is described as male, medium build, tall, wearing a hoodie, sweat pants, runners and had on a dark face mask.

This investigation is in the early stages and we are not ruling any motives including that this crime had an element of bias or hate involved.
