Great Start to the Day: Chilliwack Mounties Arrest Car Thief

Shortly after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, members of the Chilliwack RCMP Property Crime Unit and Drug Section arrested a 22-year-old Chilliwack man for auto theft-related charges. The man is known to police and Chilliwack Mounties will forward charges for review to the B.C. Prosecution Service of Possession of Stolen Property over $5000, Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police and Assaulting a Police Officer. The man was held in police custody awaiting his first appearance in court which was anticipated for later that day.

Chilliwack RCMP would like to once again urge citizens to do their part in preventing property crime. Please do not leave your vehicle running when it is unattended.

Thieves prey on crime of opportunities, says Sgt. Krista VROLYK, media spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP. A vehicle left running with keys in the ignition is an easy target. This type of crime can easily be prevented. Please remember to lock your doors, remove valuables from plain view and use an anti-theft device. Do your part to prevent property crime in our community.
