Swashbuckling Mounties - with a pirate theme.

On Saturday September 12, 2020, several Mounties volunteered their time to support the Variety Club-Boat for Hope event which is normally on the water but with Covid restrictions was moved to a roof top at Coquitlam Centre. The families were treated to a drive thru giant water fight and plenty of gifts, all with a pirate theme.

Superintendent Bayani and Swashbuckling Mounties

Officers from North Vancouver, Surrey, Richmond, Coquitlam detachments and BC RCMP Headquarters, came out to help lead the kids in their land yachts through the maze of islands decorated in a pirate theme. Superintendent Ghalib Bayani Officer-in-Charge of the North Vancouver RCMP is one of several officers who volunteered their time to this event for many years. Bayani says, he really enjoys seeing all the kids smile but even more he sees the fun the officers have being a part of this.

At least 300 families were able to participate in the roof top event.

The Boat for Hope is the kick off for Variety week. There are many opportunities to support this organization and the kids they help during the week of September 14 to 18.
