As Burnaby RCMP recognizes the contributions and leadership of women across the world as part of International Women’s Day, the detachment is pleased to officially welcome Inspector Peri Mainwaring as the newest member of its Senior Management Team.

Insp. Mainwaring joins the Burnaby RCMP as the detachment’s Community Programs Officer.

In her role, Insp. Mainwaring oversees Burnaby RCMP Traffic Services, Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT), Youth Section, Police Mental Health Outreach Team (PMHOT), as well as the detachment’s Community Response Team (CRT) and Bike Unit.

Insp. Mainwaring joined Burnaby RCMP in late January from the North Vancouver RCMP detachment where she spent the last five years working in Community Policing Services.

During her time in North Vancouver, Insp. Mainwaring was a champion for diversity, creating a working group to strengthen relationships between police and local Indigenous communities and working closely with the Integrated First Nations Unit (IFNU). She has also Co-Chaired the BC Law Enforcement Diversity Network.

I’m fortunate to be working with a great group of people and an engaged community here in Burnaby. I’m looking forward to continuing to build Burnaby RCMP’s connections and relationships within the community, while working together with our teams to help build a safer city, said Insp. Mainwaring.

Insp. Mainwaring joined the RCMP in 1993 and has worked in a number of detachments and roles throughout her career, including general duty, staffing, fraud, and labour relations.

Inspector Mainwaring brings a great depth of knowledge and experience to her new position in Community Programs, and we are very excited to have her on our team in Burnaby, said Burnaby RCMP Officer in Charge Graham de la Gorgendiere. I’d also like to acknowledge the contributions and dedication of Insp. Kathy Hartwig, who has moved into a new role with Burnaby RCMP after nearly eight years working with Community Programs.

Women now represent half of Burnaby RCMP’s eight-person Senior Management Team.

As of March 2023, the team includes the following people:
