Many people have a love of dogs, including police officers. So, on October 11, 2022, when a member of BC Highway Patrol’s Integrated Road Safety Unit (IRSU) saw a loose dog while conducting speed enforcement on Marine Drive in West Vancouver, the officer and an unidentified civilian sprang into action.
The dog, later identified as Henry, was quite frantic and was almost struck by a vehicle while crossing Marine Drive,
says Constable Stacey Shannon of Fraser Coast IRSU. Thank you to the woman who helped with Henry’s capture before harm could come to him.
During the time it took to locate the owner, Cst. Shannon provided Henry with a comfortable ride and purchased some treats to make the experience less stressful. Thanks to the dog tags Henry wore, Cst. Shannon was able to safely reunite Henry with his owner. Henry expressed his appreciation with some vigorous tail-wagging!
