File # 2016-1355

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) continues to request public assistance in the homicide of Jatinder Michael Sandhu, in what is now classified as an unsolved case.

Background:

On July 23, 2016, the Surrey RCMP responded to a shooting in the area of 14300 block of 90A Avenue. First responders found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim sustained survivable injuries. The other victim was 28-year-old Jatinder Michael Sandhu, who was transported to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

Update:

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) maintains conduct of this investigation on its 8th anniversary. This investigation into the death of Michael Sandhu is designated as an unsolved case and is highlighted on IHIT’s Unsolved Cases webpage to further generate public awareness and requests for information.

While the evidence gathered to date indicates the shooting was linked to the BC Gang Conflict, investigators believe that these victims were not the intended targets. Neither Michael Sandhu or the surviving victim had criminal records.

On the 8th anniversary, Michael Sandhu’s family continue to remember him as the eldest brother of three siblings, a beloved son, with a heart of gold.

There are persons out there with key information that can help solve this case and bring closure to Michael’s family, said Staff Sergeant David Lee of IHIT, time passes, situations change, perhaps now is the time to come forward.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
