Police investigating assault with a weapon

On February 11th, 2024, at around 3:00 p.m., RCMP in Oliver, BC responded to a residence on Co Op Ave, for a report of intimate partner violence involving a firearm.
The female victim was able to leave the residence, while the male suspect remained inside.
Due to the reported involvement of a firearm, multiple officers attended, at which time the man refused to leave his residence.
Given the risk posed to officers and the public, the Southeast District’s Emergency Response Team (SED ERT) assisted, and were successful in safely apprehending the man.
The 31-year-old Oliver resident is being held for a bail hearing, with police recommending charges related to pointing a firearm and assault.
As the investigation continues, officers will remain at the residence this morning,
