Fatal collision on Hwy 97

Police responded to a fatal collision on Hwy 97 north of Quesnel.

On October 12, 2023 at approximately 3:51 a.m., the Quesnel RCMP responded to a report of a two- vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck on Highway 97 near Dunkley. Both vehicles had caught fire. The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was found deceased. As the accident was outside of the fire protection area, a crew from Dunkley Lumber Ltd. attended to extinguish the vehicle fire and to prevent the fire from spreading further. Police are on scene investigating. Highway 97 is closed in both directions.
