This incident occurred a few days after another boat in the same launch was broken into, but nothing was stolen. At this time, it is unknown if the two occurrences are related. The investigation is ongoing.

Fraud under $5000

On February 3rd, a complainant reported an on-line fraud that had occurred the previous day concerning a cat adoption. The complainant had done her due diligence and it appeared the adoption agency out of Alberta was legitimate. The complainant was on her way to pick up the animal, after paying the adoption and airfare fee, when she was advised that she needed to use another company to ship the animal. The representative from the company became aggressive, demanding more money, and the complainant had a gut feeling that the situation was not right. The complainant trusted her instinct and refused to provide more money and contacted the RCMP. The matter is still under investigation.

Dropped 911

Assist ambulance

On February 16th, Emergency Health Services (EHS) requested police attend for a man locked in the local grocery store bathroom. Police attended and located the man who was being attended to by EHS. The man, who was not local, appeared to be suffering for a drug induced medical emergency and was transported to the hospital without incident.

The bike, which, a white and pink Rocky Mountain Topanga Mountain bike, was left on the side of the road and in bad condition. Please contact the Quadra RCMP at 250-285-3631 if this is your bike.

Check well being

On February 18th, Quadra RCMP received a request to assist another detachment in locating and checking on the well being of a man believed to be on Quadra Island. Officers, with the help of the locals, were able to locate the man quickly. Staff at multiple businesses in Quathiaski Cove reported a man they didn't recognize was acting oddly and directed police to him. The man was cooperative with police and agreed that his method of begging for money was making the public uncomfortable. The man politely asked for a ride to the ferries so he could return home, to which the Quadra RCMP obliged.
