Lab analysis received for suspicious pill in Halloween candy

On November 1, 2022, the Fort St John RCMP received a report of suspicious Halloween candy after a full-sized Aero chocolate bar was found to contain what appeared to be a white circular pill.

As part of the investigation, the Fort St John RCMP sent the pill for drug analysis to determine the chemical make-up. Results of the analysis has revealed the pill was Ibuprofen.

Placing an unknown pill inside a child’s treat undermines the safety and security of a neighbourhood but at least in this situation, the pill was found and no child was harmed, said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP. This was an isolated incident and the parent that found the pill did the right thing by reporting it to police.

The Fort St John RCMP have been unable to determine the origin of the suspicious Halloween chocolate bar and ask that anyone who has information in this matter to contact the Fort St John RCMP at 250-787-8100.
