For week of December 27, 2022 – January 2, 2023

2022-6444 et al – Impaired driving

On December 29, 2022, a member did a check stop with a speeder that led to an impaired driving investigation. The driver provided breath samples that resulted in FAIL, and the driver had their car impounded and licence suspended for 90 days. In a second unrelated instance, another member did a check stop with a driver whose breath samples indicated WARN, and this driver had their licence suspended for three days. Both drivers are local to the Whistler area.

2022-6383 et al – CDSA

During the course of the week, members on proactive village patrols did seven checks involving a total of 21 people who were using drugs contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. During each of the checks, persons were arrested or detained, and had small quantities of drugs such as cocaine on their person. Because each person had no previous police contacts involving illegal drugs and each carried small quantities, all were released unconditionally. 17 of these people were local, while four were from the Fraser Valley area.

New Year's Eve calls for service

During the day and evening of New Year's Eve, police responded to 29 calls for service. Calls ranged from mischief, false alarms, Mental Health Act, collisions, drugs, and noise bylaws. Police say locals and visitors in the RMOW area were overall very respectful of laws and local bylaws during New Year's Eve.

Police ask anyone with any information regarding the above files to contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to the website www.solvecrime.ca
