
Highway 3 west of Castlegar, BC has been re-opened following an early morning fatality

Shortly after 5:00am on July 26th, 2022 emergency services were called to a report of a collision between a pickup truck and a transport truck on Highway 3 approximately fifteen kilometers west of Castlegar, BC.
RCMP, Castlegar Fire, and BC ambulance attended. The highway was temporarily closed with traffic being re-directed through Highway 3B. It appears the driver of the pickup truck had encountered and struck an elk on the on the highway, subsequently veering into the path of an on coming transport truck.
The seventy-five-year-old lone occupant of the pickup truck was pronounced dead on scene and the lone occupant of the transport truck was treated for injuries on scene.
Castlegar RCMP are continuing to assist the BC Coroners Service with their investigation and anyone with information are asked to contact the Castlegar RCMP at (250)365-7721.
