Fourteen more youths are pledging to make a difference, taking a stand against bullying and peer pressure.

In June 2022, parents, teachers and RCMP Officers from the First Nations Policing Unit celebrated the work of fourteen Indigenous students who completed the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program at the Westbank First Nation Community SENSISYUSTEN House of Learning.

The D.A.R.E.’s keepin’it REAL program is designed to develop positive options for young people to resist the pressures which may influence them to experiment with alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, says Constable Rolly Williams, a member of the First Nations Policing Unit who instructed the program.

Theses dedicated students had great attendance, demonstrated good behavior during classes, kept their body free from drugs, and made pledge statements to make wise decisions about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

The partnerships we developed have such positive impact in our community. We are so proud that the Westbank 2022 D.A.R.E.’s Keepin’it REAL graduates who will join the millions of other D.A.R.E. students around the world who have chosen to be safe and responsible, added Staff Sergeant Duncan Dixon, the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment Commander.
