The Nelson RCMP have recently conducted marine enforcement on Kootenay Lake and were happy to see a high level of compliance with the Canada Shipping Act regulations by boaters on Kootenay Lake. Boaters are encouraged to review the Safe Boating Guide that can be found on the Transport Canada Website prior to hitting the water. www.tc.canada.ca/en/marine-transportation

The Nelson RCMP have received a large number of complaints regarding aggressive dogs in the rural
Nelson area. Dog Control bylaws are in effect for Regional District electoral areas E, F as well as
portions of I, J and K. Information regarding the RDCK Dog Control Bylaws can be found at
www.rdck.ca/EN/main/services/bylaw-enforcement-animal-control or call 1800-268-7325. Police would like to remind dog owners in the rural areas that do not have RDCK by laws in affect, that they are responsible for controlling their animals while not on their property and that owners could potentially face civil liability for damage and injuries caused by their dog.
