File # 2020-817

On October 26 2020, at approximately 6:27 a.m., the Kamloops RCMP was notified of a break and enter to a hotel room. The suspect allegedly stole vehicle keys and a cell phone, then subsequently used the stolen vehicle keys to steal a vehicle from the hotel parking lot.

The owners of the stolen vehicle used their cell phone to track the vehicle to Highway 5 (Coquihalla) in the Logan Lake area. A local tow company located the stolen vehicle involved in a minor motor vehicle collision, and the suspect required a tow to get back on the highway.

RCMP members attended the area to find the suspect who was subsequently arrested and the vehicle and cell phone were recovered. The suspect, identified as Mark Daniel Clute of Kamloops, also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Mark Clute, 50-years-old, has now been charged with break and enter, theft of motor vehicle, and fail to comply with a Probation Order.

Mark Clute has been remanded in-custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 9, 2020.

The Logan Lake RCMP would like to thank the owners of the stolen vehicle for their quick thinking and the tow company who helped police in locating the vehicle, states Cpl. Jarett Duncan, Detachment Commander for the Logan Lake RCMP.
