Purple Light Nights 2020
2020-10-01 15:10 PDT
Agassiz Victim Services launches its Purple Light Nights campaign for the month of October 2020.
Purple Light Nights is the inspiration of the Chilliwack/Agassiz Violence Against Women in Relationships committee which originated in 2007 in King County, Washington. The goal is to provide a greater awareness of domestic violence issues, while we remember the victims and continue to spread the message that
Domestic Violence Has NO Place in Our Community.
This international awareness campaign invites residents to shine a purple light bulb on their porch or front window for the entire month of October to remember the victims and honor the survivors of domestic violence. The simple idea of shining a purple light on every porch, every business, and on our street trees, will help us…
- Remember the victims who lost their lives from domestic violence
- Support the survivors as they rebuild their lives
- Give hope to those still living with abuse
Join neighbourhoods and cities around the world this October and participate in Purple Light Nights international campaign. www.purplelightnights.org
As a victim services worker, I have seen first hand this campaign inspire neighbours to support neighbours who are living in domestic violence. It’s by promoting remembrance for the victims, support for the survivors and giving hope to those living with abuse that we can create a community that has no place for domestic violence. Purple light bulbs can be purchased at Agassiz RCMP Detachment, Agassiz Community Services or District of Kent. For further information call Darlene at 604-796-1614, Agassiz RCMP Victim Services.
