RCMP confirm they have recovered the body of the person last seen swimming at Hale Creek Recreation Site on Sunday.

The search for a 20-year-old man believed drowned initiated by the Agassiz RCMP August 16, 2020 ended with the recovery of the man’s body by the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team (URT) August 17, 2020.

The missing young man, an Asian national from China had been swimming with a friend at Hale Creek Recreation Site, Harrison Lake, says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD. When he became visibly distressed, his friend and another person attempted to pull him out of the water without success.

RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate the man’s death.

Agassiz RCMP reached out and continue to offer our support to family and friends during this demanding time, says Rail.

The RCMP or the BC Coroners Service will release no further information.
