Man now wanted after departing Logan Lake recovery center

On April 19, 2020, the Logan Lake RCMP received a report that a client residing at a local recovery center left the facility contrary to his court order.
Kelly Dean Gerk was reportedly picked up from the facility and left in a vehicle during the early morning hours, sometime between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. At the time of the initial report to police, there was no perceived risk to public safety and investigators believed he was traveling to the BC interior or the Lower Mainland but no specific destination was known.
Unless an individual poses a serious risk to public safety, police are bound by privacy laws and not able to release a person’s name or photograph until new charges are formally sworn by the BC Prosecution Service and a warrant for their arrest is issued by the courts.
If at any point the Logan Lake RCMP felt there was a risk to the general public, police would then be allowed to release the individuals name publicly in an attempt to locate that person, states Cpl. Jarett Duncan, Detachment Commander of the Logan Lake RCMP.
A warrant has now been issued by the courts for his arrest and police are now able to share this information with the public to seek assistance in locating this individual.
