File # 2023-115317

At 9:20 p.m. on July 11, 2023, Surrey Gang Enforcement Team (SGET) attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Mercedes CLS550 at King George Boulevard and Highway 10. The vehicle fled from police and was subsequently located on Highway 99, south of the Serpentine River overpass.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and ran from police into the nearby wooded area. SGET, with assistance from frontline officers as well as Integrated Police Dog Services (PDS), Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (LMDERT) and Delta Police Department (DPD) conducted an extensive search for the driver.

The driver was not located; however, he has been identified as a 44-year-old man from Langley. There was evidence of drug-trafficking located and a warrant is being sought for the driver’s arrest.

This was an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.

The investigation continues. Investigators are asking that anyone with any information, including dash camera footage from the area, please contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote File 23-115317.
