Break and enter at Sidney Elementary School

On the evening of Saturday December 16th, 2023, at approximately 7:00 p.m. the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP received a report of a break and enter in progress at the Sidney Elementary School. A community member reported a group of youths had broken into the school and then left through a smashed door.

The responding police officers were successful locating and arresting the youths involved based on the detailed descriptions provided. Officers determined the front door glass was smashed, two additional door windows were broken and fire extinguishers were discharged inside the school.

This is a wonderful example of the public and police working in partnership in order to solve and prevent crime. In this case a citizen called police when they saw something that didn’t seem right in their neighbourhood. Sidney/North Saanich RCMP would like to remind people that if they see something suspicious call us. said Constable Tim Cosgrove, media relations officer for the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.
