On March 30, 2022, four Ridge Meadows police officers received recognition for their dedication to the removal of impaired drivers and were honored with Alexa awards.

The Team Alexa award was created to honour the memory of 4 year old Alexa Middelar after she was tragically killed by an impaired driver and it is a poignant force in the anti-impaired driving movement.
To receive a nomination to the Alexa Team you must have removed a minimum of 12 impaired drivers by Immediate Roadside Prohibition, or Criminal Code investigations, due to impairment by either drugs or alcohol.

Two members were honoured yesterday with All-Star status which means that they removed at least 25 impaired drivers with the same parameters as mentioned above.

First Responders see first-hand the devastation that impaired driving can cause. States Inspector Jayson Lucash. Here in British Columbia we have been provided tools, training and legislative support to help combat those who choose to drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Inspector Lucash further states, As a previous Alexa Award recipient, I am proud to welcome 10 new Ridge Meadows members to Alexa’s Team. Collectively they have removed 217 high-risk drivers from our local roadways thereby making us all safer.
