File # 2023-6763
Two robberies, an assault with a weapon, and a mischief report led to Kamloops police arresting a man yesterday and holding him for court.
On Feb. 27, 2023, just after noon, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 300-block of St. Paul Street where a man had allegedly stolen a bottle of liquor, then struck an employee who attempted to stop him.
Less than an hour later, police were called to a store on the 900-block of Columbia Street West where a man was reported as screaming at people and throwing items in a parking lot. By 2:05 p.m., officers were called to another robbery, this time on the 1800-block of Highway 5A.
The suspect in all three incidents appeared to be the same person,
said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. Thanks to the assistance from community partners and the quick response of frontline officers, the suspect was located soon after at Summit Drive and Robson Street and taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect, an Ontario man in his 30s, is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing and recommended charges scheduled for later today.
Anyone who witnessed, has video, or information related to the ongoing investigation is asked to please contact police as soon as possible and reference file 2023-6763.
