Police presence: high-risk response on the North Shore

A report involving firearms and an assault in progress led to a large police presence on the North Shore this afternoon.

On Oct. 13, 2022, around 1:20 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to an address on Parkcrest Avenue where a person was allegedly being assaulted with weapons. As officers arrived, a white truck fled the area.

Members from multiple support units, including the Police Dog Service, Municipal Traffic, and General Investigation Services Team, responded and were able to locate the white truck near an address on Glenview Avenue. The vehicle was vacant, but a firearm was observed inside.

One man was arrested shortly after from a residence nearby.

This investigation is still in its very early stages and a large police presence remains on scene at this time, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. The public is asked to please avoid the area while police continue their efforts and to contact the Kamloops RCMP if they have any information that may be helpful.

Anyone with video, dashcam footage, or information related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-36694.
