File # 2022-34802
The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is looking for a suspect, witnesses, and video after police were called to a break and enter in progress last night.
Around 10:10 p.m., on Sept. 28, 2022, multiple frontline officers and the Police Dog Service Unit attended the 1900-block of Westsyde Road where a woman had allegedly entered a stranger’s house, then assaulted the homeowner with a weapon.
According to the report, the homeowner heard a noise inside their house, went to see what it was, and discovered a strange woman near the kitchen, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
When the homeowner told the woman to leave and that she was calling police, the suspect allegedly hit her with an object, then attempted to assault her with a knife. The homeowner was eventually able to get the woman out, but not before the suspect grabbed a bag of potatoes from the kitchen.
The suspect is described as:
- Indigenous female
- Approximately 5’5
- Thin build
- Wearing glasses, a black coat, and white jeans
The Forensic Identification Services Unit attended the scene earlier today as part of the ongoing investigation.
