The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 390 calls for service over the weekend, from midnight Friday Sept. 23, to 9 a.m. on Monday Sept. 26 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Suspicious vehicle fire

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is investigating after two vehicles were damaged by fire this weekend.

On Sept. 22, 2022, around 11:15 p.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received a request to assist with a fire in the parking lot at Lansdowne and 2nd Avenue. Police attended and located a truck with significant fire damage. A vehicle parked next to the truck received minor damage as a result of the flames.

According to witness reports, three people were seen fleeing the area; no specific description was provided.

The fire is being treated as suspicious. Police would like to speak with anyone who may have information or video related to the incident, including the three people reported as leaving the area at the time of the fire.

Assault with a weapon

A man was located with injuries downtown Kamloops early Friday morning.

On Sept. 23, 2022, around 7:45 a.m., police assisted ambulance with a call involving a man who had been struck with a blunt object on the 40-block of Victoria Street West. No suspect description was provided.

Pedestrian struck

A man was taken to hospital with minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle late Sunday night.

On Sept. 25, 2022, around 11:40 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the collision on the 400-block of Victoria Street. According to the report, an intoxicated person was allegedly crouched down in the pedestrian crosswalk when they were struck.

The driver remained on scene. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
