Man arrested for assault, threats

A man is facing five charges following a weapon’s report in Sahali on Sunday night.

On Sept. 4, 2022, at approximately 8 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the 600-block of Columbia Street West, where a man allegedly made threats with a straight razor after being asked to leave a property.

As officers pulled into the parking lot, they observed a suspect walking nearby and quickly took him into custody, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

Vance William Plante, 28, of Kamloops, is charged with two counts of carry, use, or threaten to use a weapon or imitation weapon in committing an assault; two counts of assault; and one count of carrying a weapon for dangerous purposes.

He was remanded in custody with a next court date scheduled for Sept. 15, 2022.
