Police seek suspect in theft of totem pole from Kwikwetlem First Nations

Coquitlam RCMP are investigating a theft of a totem pole from the Kwikwetlem Band office located at 10 – 65 Colony Farm Road in Coquitlam from October 12, 2022. Surveillance video depicts one suspect pick up the totem pole and load it into the U-Haul truck before driving away.

The totem pole had been on display at the back of the band office. This totem pole had significant sentimental value to the community.

The theft of the totem pole from the Kwikwetlem First Nations land is a significant loss for the community, said Media Relations Officer, Corporal Alexa Hodgins. A meticulous investigation is being executed as we understand the sentimental and cultural loss felt by the Kwikwetlem First Nations.
