Update: man arrested for a serious hit and run collision

A 49-year-old Port Moody man has been arrested after leaving the scene of a serious hit and run collision.
The incident happened on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at about 8:20 p.m., at the intersection of Westminster Avenue and Oxford Street, Port Coquitlam. According to witnesses, the driver of the GMC van struck the motorcyclist and immediately drove away. Investigators interviewed multiple witnesses, reviewed dash cam footage, canvassed the area for video surveillance, obtained search warrants and conducted vehicle examinations which provided details of the events leading up to the collision.
A 49-year-old man was arrested for the following offences:
- Fail to stop after an accident causing bodily harm, contrary to section 320.16(2) Criminal Code,
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance, contrary to section 320.13(1) Criminal Code.
Based on the totality of the evidence reviewed by investigators, the RCMP will be submitting the complete investigative findings to the BC Prosecution Service for review of appropriate charges against the driver of the GMC van.
