BC RCMP advises IIO BC of an incident in Prince George

The BC RCMP has notified the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) of an incident in Prince George where one man was injured.
On April 9, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Prince George RCMP received a complaint of an intoxicated man with a firearm moving around a housing complex.
Officers arrived and the man came out from one of the residences. He reportedly refused to follow police directions and while being arrested suffered an injury.
The IIO BC is investigating police actions into the incident. As the matter is now under investigation by the IIO BC, no further information will be released by police.
Prince George RCMP are conducting a concurrent investigation into the initial weapon complaint.
