Staff Sergeant Michelle Luca selected as the first Detachment Commander for the Pitt Meadows RCMP

The Lower Mainland District is pleased to announce the selection of Staff Sergeant Michelle Luca as the Detachment Commander for Pitt Meadows RCMP.

S/Sgt. Luca grew up in the Tri-Cities and attended Simon Fraser University. It was during an Introduction to Policing course, that she knew that she wanted to make a meaningful and positive impact, while protecting her community through policing. She began her application for the RCMP while completing her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology.

Following her graduation from Depot in April 2005, her first posting was with the North Vancouver RCMP. S/Sgt. Luca has spent her entire career in the Lower Mainland, also serving with the Coquitlam RCMP and Ridge Meadows RCMP. In August 2022, she began her most recent role as the Interim Detachment Commander for the Pitt Meadows RCMP.

S/Sgt. Luca has had a career focused on serving communities, having worked General Duty, with youth units and on various Community Response Units (CRU). She has a strong background in frontline policing and a passion for connecting with the community and working collaboratively to build a police service that meets their needs.

The selection of the Detachment Commander for the Pitt Meadows RCMP is an integral step forward in the ongoing process to staff and open an autonomous detachment, set to open in the spring of 2026. Having worked in this position since August of 2022, S/Sgt. Luca has the experience and knowledge to lead this detachment and its members as they begin serving the City of Pitt Meadows.

At this time, the Ridge Meadows RCMP remains the police of jurisdiction for the City of Maple Ridge, the City of Pitt Meadows and the Katzie First Nation.

I am honoured to have been selected as the Detachment Commander for the Pitt Meadows RCMP, says S/Sgt. Luca. Building relationships with community partners is important to me and I am excited to continue policing and serving this community, while working to deliver police services that fit the needs of the City of Pitt Meadows and the Katzie First Nation.
